Com a vitória a equipe de Tombos chegou ao 37 pontos e ocupa atualmente a 37 colocação no Campeonato Brasileiro da Série B. O desempenho vem muito ao encontro do trabalho realizado por Moacir Júnior. Depois que chegou a equipe arrancou na Série B e nos últimos cinco jogos venceu em três oportunidades: Vila Nova, Chapecoense e Sampaio Corrêa, os dois últimos, fora de casa.

Com duelos diante da Chapecoense e Sampaio Corrêa vencidos, Moacir mirou o confronto contra a Ponte Preta para completar a fase de “obrigação” do clube em confrontos diretos.
“Vai ser um jogo extremamente complicado. Temos ciência disso, mas para nós é muito importante, repito, não baixar o nível e continuar competindo, se conseguirmos vencer, nos coloca em uma situação de menos pressão, mas não podemos planejar, temos que fazer”, explicou o treinador.
Além do duelo contra a Ponte Preta, o Tombense ainda enfrenta o CRB e o Mirassol na reta final do Campeonato Brasileiro da Série B.
