Campinas, SP, 06 – Destaque do Palmeiras especialmente nos últimos jogos do Brasileirão, o atacante Endrick foi uma das principais novidades da lista divulgada pelo técnico Fernando Diniz nesta segunda-feira. E o jogador foi chamado pela primeira vez para seleção principal justamente para a rodada mais difícil das Eliminatórias para a Copa do Mundo de 2026 – o Brasil enfrentará a Colômbia e a Argentina. Segundo Diniz, a escolha pela joia do Palmeiras se justifica por duas razões: o momento dele e o potencial para os próximos anos.
“Endrick é um jogador que tem potencial para ser um daqueles grandes talentos. A gente não sabe se vai se confirmar ou não. A convocação não é uma pressão, é um prêmio, e também uma visão de futuro do que esse garoto pode ser”, afirmou Diniz, minutos depois anunciar a lista de convocados.
Para o técnico interino da seleção, Endrick vive “seu melhor momento”. “Neste momento específico da convocação, ele vive seu melhor momento, jogando contra grandes equipes aqui no Brasil e conseguindo sobressair. (Mas) a convocação do Endrick e de mais alguns foca um pouco o que pode ser o futuro”, sustentou o técnico. “Não quer dizer que é uma confirmação, confirmação ela só vai vir com o tempo.

Endrick terá a companhia no ataque de outras três novidades: Paulinho, do Atlético Mineiro, João Pedro, do Brighton, e Pepê, do Porto. Os três foram elogiados por Diniz por diferentes razões. Além de artilheiro, o atacante do clube mineiro também é considerado pelo técnico como muito comprometido taticamente. João Pedro, por sua vez, se encaixa no “potencial de futuro” que Diniz viu também em Endrick. E, no caso de Pepê, uma das principais razões é a versatilidade – o jogador do Porto poderá atuar até mesmo como lateral, visto que Fernando Diniz levou apenas Emerson para o lado direito.
Diante de Colômbia e Argentina, Diniz fará seus dois últimos jogos como técnico do Brasil nas Eliminatórias. Em março, ele ainda comandará o Brasil nos amistosos diante de Inglaterra e Espanha.
