Campinas, SP, 21 (AFI) – As eleições da Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) contarão com um novo personagem: Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos. O presidente da Federação Paulista de Futebol (FPF) lançou sua candidatura para ser o próximo presidente da entidade nacional. Reinaldo Carneiro, com larga experiência no futebol, já era cotado por muitos companheiros para concorrer a eleição de janeiro.
Na última semana, Reinaldo já tinha se reunido com os 11 clubes paulistas das Séries A e B do Campeonato Brasileiro para buscar uma unificação. Todos os clubes paulistas fazem parte da Libre e Reinaldo também tem boa relação com clubes da Forte Futebol, que estudam até mesmo um voto em bloco.

Além dos clubes, porém, Reinaldo Carneiro precisará de federações aliadas. Isso porque o peso dos votos é diferente. Os votos das federações têm peso 3, os dos clubes da Série A peso 2 e os dos clubes da Série B peso 1.
Para confirmar a candidatura, é necessário o apoio declarado de oito federações e cinco clubes. Reinaldo Carneiro já conta com esses requisitos mínimos.
Reinaldo vinha apoiando Ednaldo, mas decidiu pela candidatura própria após sinalização de Ednaldo em entrar em acordo com Gustavo Feijó, ex-vice-presidente da CBF, que era rival político.

Ednaldo Rodrigues foi destituído do cargo no dia 7, em consequência da anulação de uma série de assembleias da entidade, entre elas a que elegeu o dirigente baiano. Todas elas estariam em desconformidade com a lei.
A Justiça também estabeleceu que o presidente do Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD), José Perdiz, atue como interventor na entidade até a convocação de novas eleições.
