Franca, SP, 02 (AFI) – O Botafogo-RJ não fez um exibição de gala nesta terça-feira, mas estreou na Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior com vitória sobre o Tiradentes-PI, por 1 a 0, no estádio José Lancha Filho, em Franca.
Vice-campeão em 1971, quando perdeu a final para o Fluminense, nos pênaltis, o Botafogo deu um grande passo na busca pela classificação ao vencer um adversário, que joga o torneio pela primeira vez em sua história.
O placar econômico, no entanto, deixou o Botafogo na vice-liderança do Grupo 05, já que, mais cedo, a Francana-SP se aproveitou do fator casa para derrotar o Rio Claro-SP por 2 a 0.
O JOGO
O Botafogo fez um primeiro tempo muito fraco tecnicamente e não conseguiu pressionar o Tiradentes, que entrou em campo com a clara intenção de segurar um 0 a 0. O lance mais perigo foi do próprio time piauiense, com Coutinho, que quase surpreendeu o goleiro Heitor.
O ponto negativo foi pelo choque recebido por Bernardo Valim, um dos principais nomes do Botafogo. O jogador chegou a ser levado para o hospital, mas passa bem e deve reforçar o clube na próxima rodada.
No segundo tempo, o time alvinegro também não teve grande exibição, mas conseguiu fazer o gol da vitória aos sete minutos, quando Kayque aproveitou a sobra para soltar o pé e fazer 1 a 0. O Botafogo apenas administrou o resultado para iniciar o torneio com o pé direito.

O Botafogo volta a campo na sexta-feira, às 21h30, para enfrentar o Rio Claro. No mesmo dia, às 19h15, o Tiradentes pega a Francana. Ambos os jogos serão em Franca, sede do Grupo 05.

O primeiro dia de Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior teve uma sonora goleada do Athletico-PR, que busca o título inédito do torneio. O clube paranaense começou fazendo 9 a 0 no Sparta-TO, em Catanduva. Destaque também para o Ceará, que derrotou o Rondoniense por 1 a 0.
Vice-campeão em 2009, quando perdeu a decisão para o Corinthians, o Athletico-PR não tomou conhecimento do adversário com a vitória por 9 a 0, com direito a hat-trick do atacante Walace, de apenas 18 anos. João Cruz e Sorriso também foram destaques com dois gols cada.
Com a goleada, o Athletico já assumiu a liderança do Grupo 2, já que Catanduva-SP e Portuguesa-RJ empataram por 2 a 2, com direito a um golaço do clube do Rio de Janeiro, marcado por Pedro Henrique, de cobertura.
Pelo Grupo 08, o Ceará foi econômico, mas derrotou o Rondoniense por 1 a 0, com gol de Pablo, aos 17 minutos do primeiro tempo. O duelo foi realizado no estádio Bruno Lazzarini.
Ainda em Leme, o Lemense não conseguiu fazer do fator casa e acabou sendo derrotado pelo Gama, por 2 a 0, com gol de Walmir. O time candango lidera pelo saldo de gols.
