Florianópolis, SC, 03 (AFI) – De volta à rotina, nesta quarta-feira, o executivo de futebol Eduardo Freeland concedeu a primeira coletiva do Avaí em 2024. O dirigente esclareceu as metas do clube catarinense para a nova temporada e definiu o acesso para a Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro como o principal objetivo no ano.
Com o rebaixamento do Santos, Freeland projeta uma Série B mais difícil que a de 2023. Além do time paulista, a competição ainda contará com Coritiba, Sport e Guarani, que já foram campeões brasileiros.
“Essa é a Série B mais difícil de todos os tempos porque, além de ter campeões brasileiros, você tem campeão da Libertadores disputando uma competição como essa. Sinceramente, para mim, essa vai ser a mais difícil e eu acho que a tendência é que cada ano fique mais difícil” disse o dirigente.
Antes, o dirigente quer foco no Campeonato Catarinense. Após 10 anos, o Avaí não conseguiu a classificação para a Copa do Brasil e só disputou as duas competições na temporada .A estreia no estadual acontecerá no dia 21 de janeiro, frente ao Nação, às 19h, no estádio da Ressacada.
“Nós queremos o título do Campeonato Catarinense e o acesso à Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro. Sem dúvida nenhuma, serão os nossos principais objetivos na temporada de 2024” destacou Freeland.
Após um 2023 brigando contra o rebaixamento na Série B, o Avaí reformulou o elenco e agora conta com 10 novos jogadores. A diretoria ainda espera contratar um camisa nove e o nome do atacante Léo Gamalho, destaque do Vitória, foi sondado. Entretanto, o dirigente afirmou que analisa outros nomes no mercado.
