Caxias do Sul, RS, 15 (AFI) – O começo de ano bastante irregular e decepcionante do Caxias na disputa do Campeonato Gaúcho rendeu nesta quinta-feira (15) a demissão do técnico Gerson Gusmão, logo depois de ter perdido para o São José por 2 a 1 em casa, no Centenário, considerado a gota d’água para a decisão.
Com o resultado, o Grená fechou a oitava rodada do estadual com apenas nove pontos, na sétima colocação, bem abaixo do esperado pela diretoria depois da importante campanha conquistada em 2023 no cenário nacional. Até aqui, são duas vitórias, três empates e três derrotas.
CAXIAS DEMITE GUSMÃO
Gusmão assumiu o Caxias em meio a fase de grupos da Série D de 2023, depois de ser demitido do Floresta-CE, que disputava a Série C. No clube gaúcho, avançou com a segunda melhor campanha, ainda eliminando Inter de Limeira, Ceilândia-DF e Portuguesa-RJ pelo caminho, conquistando uma das quatro vagas de acesso para a terceira divisão, e sendo eliminado apenas na semifinal para o Ferroviário-CE, que mais tarde se sagrou campeão.
Apesar do legado de sucesso que fica registrado na história do Grená do Povo, garantindo a 17ª participação do clube na história da Série C, o treinador acabou demitido ainda em fevereiro de 2024, junto com seu auxiliar Diego Albrecht e seu Preparador Físico Carlos Eduardo Maus.
Optando pela mudança, o Caxias anunciará em breve quem assume o comando do terceiro clube a mudar de treinador, depois de Ypiranga e Santa Cruz. Pela nona rodada do estadual, o clube tenta se manter no G-8 tendo o Juventude como próximo desafio, na segunda-feira (19), às 20h, no clássico que acontecerá no Alfredo Jaconi.
