Palmeiras continua favorito nas semifinais

Campinas, SP, 19 (AFI) – Tudo aquilo que prevíamos em nossas análises sobre as quartas-de-final do Paulistão, se confirmaram. O Palmeiras passou por cima da Ponte Preta, no sábado passado, sem dó nem piedade (5 x 1). No domingo à tarde, o Red Bull Bragantino destruiu a Inter de Limeira, sem passar sufoco.

Às 18 horas, o São Paulo, como eu previa, teve sérias dificuldades para vencer o Novorizontino no tempo normal do jogo e falhou feio na decisão por pênaltis. O Novorizontino foi mais competente nas cobranças e mereceu se classificar para as semifinais. À noite, na Vila Belmiro, o Santos empatou com a Portuguesa no tempo normal, mas foi competente o suficiente para garantir sua vaga na cobrança de pênaltis.

Ou seja: a expectativa para as semifinais, que serão disputadas dia 27 de março, é a mesma em relação ao jogo do Palmeiras, que considero favorito diante do Novorizontino, apesar de reconhecermos o potencial de Novo Horizonte.

OS FINALISTAS SERÃO…
Também acredito que o Santos, também vai passar pelo Red Bull, porque terá o privilégio de jogar em casa, onde geralmente se impõe aos seus adversários. Numa dessas, uma final entre Palmeiras e Santos, nos dias 31 de março e 7 de abril, é o que se afigura como mais provável depois das semifinais.

Lógico que pode haver zebra, mas se a lógica prevalecer, a decisão do título paulista deste ano será mesmo entre Verdão e Peixe, com favoritismo inicial do time dirigido pelo excelente Abel Ferreira.

Mas voltemos às quartas-de-final onde a maior decepção foi a do São Paulo, que mesmo com apoio de mais de 55 mil torcedores que superlotaram o MorumBis, não conseguiu se impor durante os noventa minutos de jogo, e foi obrigado a disputar a vaga nos pênaltis, que parecia ser sua especialidade. Não foi.

O Novorizontino foi bem melhor e ficou com a vaga nas semifinais do campeonato com toda a justiça. Ao Tricolor resta esperar abril, quando terá seus primeiros jogos pela Libertadores, que na verdade, é seu sonho de consumo na atual temporada.

PORTUGUESA HONROU A CAMISA
Quanto ao jogo de domingo à noite na Vila Belmiro, a Portuguesa honrou sua camisa e segurou um empate honroso até o final do jogo. Isso obrigou o Santos a decidir a vaga na cobrança de pênaltis, onde deu provas de que estava bem melhor preparado que seu adversário.

Em Bragança, o Red Bull foi muito bem contra a Inter. Com isso, merecidamente chegou às semifinais, levando consigo o sonho de, quem sabe, voltar a ser finalista de um Campeonato Paulista. Sonho difícil, mas não impossível.
